Lead Marine Operations Engineer - Wave Energy

The Role
CorPower Ocean is looking for a Lead Marine Operations Engineer to assume technical, budget and team responsibility concerning offshore and onshore operations for the installation of CorPower wave farms. This includes the methods and associated equipment for anchor, array cables and electrical collection hubs as part of the farm infrastructure installation. It also includes the methods and equipment for towing, connecting and disconnecting Wave Energy Converters (WECs) to the mechanical and electrical interfaces of the anchors and array cables using surface operated quick-connect solution. Development and testing of customer made equipment to achieve efficient, safe, vessel-agnostic and low-cost installation is a key part of the role, including equipment for UMACK anchor installation as well as Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) for the connection and disconnection of WECs in wave farms.
Responsibilities
- Global responsibility for Marine operations, including farm infrastructure installations
- Team leadership for Marine operations teams including hiring, team development and training
- Methods and equipment for marine operations (Piling, cable install, hub, LARS for WEC operations)
- Development and continuous improvement of Method statements, including MWS approval
- Ensure QHSE and risk assessment are in accordance with CorPower Ocean and local regulations policy
- Delivering farm installations on time, performance and budget. Ownership of budget for Marine ops Services and Equipment
- Planning, staffing and executing farm infrastructure installations (anchors, cables, hub)
- Responsible for all FAT or SAT for the equipment for the farm infrastructure
- Selection and contracting with Marine operators and equipment suppliers for farm infrastructure installations. (WEC operations is distributed on Local Heads of WEC marine operations)
- Development of improved methods and equipment to meet Installation and O&M targets in terms of safety, cycle time, performance and reduction in ops-CAPEX and OPEX to deliver on CorPower's Product Roadmap, defined in the Installation and OPEX sections.
- Develop and maintain the marine ops processes, policies and procedures in CorPower. Train teams and ensure operations are executed to the procedures.
- Lead development of future marine operations methods and tooling
- Direct, review and update procedures to meet internal targets and external requirements from customers, investors, MWS, DNV and underwriters
Skills and requirements
You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience from developing offshore installation methods and have led and successfully completed installations in the field. Proven experience in multiple method development processes and installation cycles from start to finish is a must.
You have the drive, determination and patience to lead through project cycles from early-stage concepts, fabrication, logistics and execution with 24/7 operations, delivering projects safely on time and meeting cost targets.
You have a broad technical knowledge and genuine interest in the different aspects of marine operations, machinery and operations methods. Knowledge of mooring systems, ROVs and other subsea equipment, as well as electricity generation equipment is qualifying. Experience of certification and Marine Warranty Survey methodology and documentation is qualifying.
You have experience working with Orcaflex, Mermaid and similar tools, meriting if also Creo CAD, WindChill PLM. If you have experience with equivalent software and willing to get up to speed this is also qualifying.
You may have a B.Sc or a M.Sc. degree in marine engineering or related disciplines, but your personality, experience and interest in the field is the most important.
