Senior Technical Project Manager (M/F/NB)

The Role
The Project Management Office (PMO) at CorPower is looking for a senior project engineer/technical project manager with a strong capability in developing and building our commercial engineering projects, including leading Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Design, and Construction Phases, for our client’s wave project sites in Portugal and around the globe. The main opportunity in this role is to support the delivery of the Viana Wave project in Northern Portugal; a 15MW pre-commercial project consisting of 45 Wave Energy Converters (WECs) set for construction in 2028-2029, representing the forefront of wave energy globally. You will be joining a fast-growing and successful team in Portugal and supported by the CorPower group PMO and other core company teams.
This role is intended to reinforce the PMO presence in Viana do Castelo by helping drive key project activities forwards at CorPower’s operational base in the Commercial Port (e.g. Port infrastructure upgrades, coordination of wave farm project activities, technical leadership and oversight across a range of engineering topics across project phases, etc) and will work closely with the Portugal Country Manager, local supply chains and teams to bring the projects to ready to build status.
The role will also involve other commercial tasks for the company as well as promoting and communicating about wave technology. You will get the chance to input and develop proposals for new projects to meet next stage company goals.
Responsibilities
· Manage and deliver project development projects, such as FEED and DD scopes, to meet performance, schedule, budget and quality targets for our pre-commercial (Viana Wave) commercial projects such that these projects reach Financial Investment Decisions (FID) on schedule.
· Technical ownership, oversight and mentoring of other project staff both in project development phase milestones - and subsequent project phases such as project construction and operations.
· Define, initiate and drive project scopes and work packages to align with the overall development of the company and requirements of the client’s project sites.
· Combine engineering and project management needs to lead and drive all work packages forwards across your project assignments.
· Evaluate, organize and prioritize tasks and resources in your projects and project teams.
· Ensure alignment between all stakeholders, serve the multidisciplinary engineering teams with status and schedule updates and project reports (Technical Progress point of contact).
· Submit Technical and Financial project status reports to clients/project developers/funders (as applicable).
· Write and coordinate new project scope definition for various research and commercial projects in line with the Company roadmap supporting sales targets owned by Commercial team.
· Represent CorPower at various events/meetings/presentations (travelling is part of the role).
· Identify and drive improvements in key Business Tools requiring a detailed understanding of our operations.
Skills and qualifications
· You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant background from technical project engineering and an engineering degree.
· Experience in leading and coordinating projects through full lifecycle from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) / Detailed Design all the way through to Construction and Operations.
· Proficient in Project planning and Project cost estimation.
· Stakeholder Management and Client facing experience via scope definition and change management, reporting project progress and delivering projects, managing 3rd parties conducting work for CorPower to ensure work is concluded to scope, budget and quality.
· You have a broad technical knowledge in engineering and genuine interest in the different aspects of ocean and/or renewable energy and technical development
· Experience from fast-paced development companies is meritorious, working with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver across a wide range of works packages.
· Ability to juggle and coordinate/lead multiple project areas at once during the project development cycle -> e.g. marine operations work packages, fabrication planning, costing, scheduling, resource (wave) assessment, project development activities working with the project developers such as various license applications (e.g. site survey permits, construction permits, grid connection licenses etc) and environmental impact assessments for new project sites.
Skills and qualifications (Meriting but not essential)
· Knowledge and working exposure to areas such as marine operations planning/contracts, logistics and fabrication assessments, grid compliance (including codes and regulations), Project Finance analysis, Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) tools, are all highly qualifying.
· Awareness and understanding of offshore design, product development methods, reliability and certification processes is valuable.
· Experience managing maritime construction projects.
Your personality, experience and interest in the field are the most important and what is most highly valued at CorPower. You are proficient in English & Portuguese, both spoken and written.
