Principal Mechanical Engineer - Wave Energy
Working at CorPower Ocean you will be part of a world class team, determined to make big impact. We are on a mission to Power the Planet with clean electricity from ocean waves. We offer autonomy and flexibility, combined with personal responsibility. CorPower Ocean is a global leader in wave energy, with a technology that has shown game-changing performance. Your work will contribute to the global energy transition by unlocking one of the largest untapped sources of clean energy on earth. Since the start in 2012 CorPower has raised more than 115mEUR to bring our technology to market, supporting a growing commercial project pipeline.
The Role
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Corpower Ocean, you will provide technical leadership across the design, analysis, manufacturing, testing and certification of all mechanical systems and subsystems of the wave energy converter (WEC) and CorPack technologies. Based at our HQ in Stockholm, you will work closely with the Chief Engineer and CTO, using your strong grasp of fundamentals and industrial mechanical engineering experience to support and guide the delivery of the critical systems.
Responsibilities
Design of mechanical structures and mechanisms (from concept to release-for-production)
Present to cross-disciplinary stakeholders during design reviews
Perform structural analysis (hand calculation and FEA)
Produce technical documentation for internal use & 3rd party verification and certification
Perform failure mode, effects and criticality analysis for modules and system
Use your experience to design systems and components to meet performance, schedule and budget targets
Investigate new solutions to improve performance, reliability or manufacturability
Interface with requirement, supply chain, manufacturing and field-testing teams
Support and coach more junior engineers
Support assembly, testing, and pilot installations in the field
Skills
You have a minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience from designing mechanical systems, highly loaded structures and/or industrial equipment.
You have a work history where you have successfully led multiple full product development cycles from design, build, test, deploy/release/produce for different projects.
You have a broad technical knowledge and genuine interest in the different aspects of machinery and mechanical design. Knowledge of mooring, gear box technology, pneumatics, hydraulics, structural optimization, pressure vessel, fabrication, sensors, routings and/or electricity generation equipment is desirable.
You have experience working with CAD e.g. Creo. Experience working within PLM tools and structural finite element analysis an advantage.
Experience with offshore, marine, mining, or any other sectors with similar harsh and/or industrial environment requirements is preferred.
You may have a BSc or a MSc. degree in mechanical engineering or related disciplines, but your personality, experience and interest in the field is the most important. You are proficient in English, both spoken and written. Your personality, experience and interest in the field are the most important and what is most highly valued at CorPower.

About CorPower Ocean
CorPower Ocean is a global leader in Wave Energy technology. The ocean forms one of the largest yet least explored renewable energy sources on earth. We bring a new class of high efficiency Wave Energy Converters (WECs) enabling robust and cost-effective harvesting of electricity from ocean waves. The design principle is inspired by the pumping principles of the human heart and offers five times more energy per ton of device compared to previously known technologies, allowing a large amount of energy to be harvested using a small and low-cost device. A unique transparent protection mode brings survivability in the toughest storm conditions. We are headquartered in Sweden with offices in Portugal, Scotland and Norway.
